Dario + Ezequiel
I Forestieri
Profile of Dario and Ezequiel from I Forestieri:
🏠 From Tuscany, Italy
🫂 “I Forestieri ” means “the strangers”
🍇 They work with very old vineyards
🍷 Their wines are pure Tuscany!
We are in Roccatederighi, a village in the Tuscan province of Grosseto. It’s peaceful here, and time seems to have almost stood still. People who weren’t born in the village are called “forestieri”—“strangers.” This also applies to friends Dario and Ezequiel: Dario is from , Pisa, and Ezequiel from Argentina. When the two founded their winery, the first thing they decided on was the name: “I Forestieri.” But the wines are by no means foreign; on the contrary, they’re an expression of Tuscan nature: wild, rugged, and beguiling. The two work with very old, almost forgotten plots and are bringing them back to life. Transport yourself straight to Tuscany.

Tuscany, Italy
Tuscany is famous even without its wine: the Renaissance, cypress trees, picture-perfect hills. But it also knows how to make wine—and has done so since Etruscan times. To the left lies the Tyrrhenian Sea, to the right the Apennines, and in between, just about every type of soil Italy has to offer. Sangiovese reigns supreme in the center: Chianti, Montalcino, Montepulciano—all the big names come from this one grape. Things get wilder in the southwest, in the Maremma. Instead of cypress-lined avenues, you’ll find macchia, chestnut forests, and gravel paths here. And high up in the Alta Maremma, at altitudes of up to 600 meters, lie the Forestieri vineyards—nestled among hills where ore was once mined. Tuscany without the postcard views, but with plenty of freshness in the glass.
