Until a few years ago, Christopher Barth worked in the IT industry and had little to do with wine. That he would one day be a winemaker himself - this thought was far away. But a sad stroke of fate wanted it differently: When his uncle suddenly died, it was unclear who would take over the small vineyard. Chris stepped into the breach. So, away from the computer and towards the vines! Important insights followed, improvements, certainly also some mistakes, but also: successes. Chris' wines are elegant, puristic and unadorned. Between Rheingau and Nahe is the little jewel called Rheinhessen. Long discredited as the origin of sweet wine sins like Liebfraumilch and Gutes Domtal, a whole new cosmos has opened up in the last decade in this long underrated wine growing region. Right there, innovation and rethinking is on the daily agenda. Whether Marto and Alanna in Flonheim, Max Dexheimer in Saulheim, Bianka & Daniel Schmitt in Flörsheim-Dalsheim or of course Christopher Barth in Alzey. The Rheinhessen wines speak for themselves, that's for sure!
